OBITUARY PUBLISHED IN THE TIMES LEADER DEC. 31, 2009

Dorothy Elizabeth Samuels, last residence in West Wyoming, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Wesley Village, after many years as an Alzheimer's victim.

Born June 3, 1918, in Luzerne, she was a daughter of the late George and Anna Hutnik Dorosky. She was educated at St. John's Nepomucene School, Luzerne. Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, and the ILGWU Garment Workers and was employed in the garment industry for 25 years.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Samuels, in 1998; brothers George, John, Tom, Adam, Carl, Stephen (Joey) and Justin; sisters Mary and Vera; and grandson Joseph Stash. Surviving is her son, Robert Samuels Jr., and wife, Maryanne, of West Wyoming; daughters Dorothy Stash and husband, Larry, of Shavertown; Carol Yezilski and husband, Tom, of Dallas; Judy Thomas and husband, John, of Morton, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as brother William Dorosky, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.

 

MEMORIAL SERVICES

Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating.

Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call on Saturday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
